St. Jude's
The community of St. Jude’s continues to survive, but with less vitality than existed
years ago. The “Waterchute”, as history distinguishes it, is located just west of Deer
Lake on a main route that until the 1990’s, served as the Trans Canada Highway.
Although the landscape has changed,
the unique personality of St. Jude’s that
was developed years ago still exists.
The people maintain their pioneer ways
and entrepreneurial spirit.
The residents of St. Jude’s often set up
roadside venues and provide both the
locals and tourists with a wide variety of
wild berries and fresh bait during the
summer months and wild game such as
rabbit during the winter. |
