Reidville
The Town of Reidville is an agricultural and lumber community located a just a few
kilometers north of Deer Lake and situated along the banks of the majestic Humber
River.
The community was named by
Thomas Reid, whose was the
first to arrive there from Norris
Point in the early 1930s.
Reidville was well suited to
agriculture and people began
to raise horses, cattle, and
poultry. Hay and grain were
grown for the animals, and
root crops such as potatoes
and turnips provided food for
the families who first settled
there. Farming is still an
important way of life for the
residents of Reidville. |
