Hampden

In Hampden, at the head of White Bay, you get the first opportunity to view the panoramic view of White Bay itself, stretching away to the northeast. A very scenic community, some popular attractions are whale watching, bird watching, icebergs and squid jigging.

Settled in the mid 1800s, the settlers made their living by fishing, trapping and cultivating the land. The community of Hampden has a long history of involvement in the forestry industry, which is still an important component of the local economy today. Most employment there involves cutting and transportation of pulpwood.
